About The Therapist

Tina MendozaTina Mendoza is a New York State licensed, Occupational Therapist, specializing in pediatric practice. She has 20+ years of clinical experience of which all but 3 have been devoted to the treatment of special needs children. Tina is certified in Sensory Integration Therapy and received her S.I. training at the original Ayres Clinic in Torrance, California. Tina has practiced with the research assistants of the famous Jean Ayres, founder of Sensory Integration Theory and practice.

Along with her specialization in Sensory Integration Intervention, Tina is also a trained provider in Therapeutic Listening and the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Tina has practiced in a wide variety of traditional Occupational Therapy settings.

These settings include:

  • public school k-12
  • pre-school
  • special education programs
  • pediatric and adult home care
  • hospital acute and sub-acute rehabilitation programs
  • psychiatric hospital in-patient programs
  • nursing homes

Tina brings to each session a unique blend of compassion and clinical expertise. Tina remains current in progressive treatment techniques by continually attending professional workshops and conferences throughout the year. Areas of specific interest currently include Therapeutic Listening, M.O.R.E., Vestibular Habilitation from the Core and DIR Floor time. Tina has also provided staff in-service training for professional development, as well as provided lecture to Occupational Therapy students at the University level.

Tina resides in Eastern Long Island with her husband and three children. As a mother she identifies with the daily challenges faced by children and their families, and is therefore able to service her families with compassion and understanding on a personal level.
